Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said that Serbia would realize more than a billion euros in surplus this year from the export of services in the field of information and communication technologies (ICT), which is a larger surplus than any other industry, noting that Serbia has already achieved gender equality.
At the opening of the conference “Women in Tech”, held in the organization of the company Huawei and the AFA community in the Yugoslav Cinematheque, Brnabic said that ICT was the strongest industry in Serbia, the Government announced.
She added that Serbia is at the beginning in that area and that the basis for further growth has been created.
“The surplus in the ICT industry this year will be over a billion euros, in the food industry in the first seven months 388 million euros, in the car industry 414 million euros, and in agriculture 430 million euros. ICT is really the carrier of development, economic growth and added value that is created here,” Brnabic emphasized.
According to her, the average salary in this area is three times higher than the average salary in Serbia and amounts to 1.500 euros.
The Prime Minister also stated that 65% of women work in the Office for IT and eGovernment, that 64% of the winning teams in informatics competitions in primary schools are girls, and that Serbia has already achieved the goal of gender equality in the field of digital technologies.
Brnabic also pointed out that the Government is helping the development of the ICT sector, so that young, educated and smart people can stay in their country and start families and build careers there, so that those who left can return, as well as foreigners who want to to come here they have the opportunity to find a job, N1 reports.
