The public enterprise Tara National Park is changing its legal status from a public company to a limited liability company (LLC), becoming the eighth state-owned enterprise to do so under Serbia’s 2024 Law on the Management of State-Owned Companies. Other enterprises undergoing this change include Srbijašume, Srbijavode, Puteve Srbije, Službeni glasnik, Srbije Ski Resorts, Fruška Gora National Park and Đerdap National Park.
Tara National Park employs 204 people and recorded business revenues of €4.2 million with a net profit of approximately €126,000 in 2024. Its share capital of €69.3 million will be transferred as the registered capital of the new LLC.
The transformation follows the Law on the Management of Business Companies Owned by the Republic of Serbia, which was adopted with a delayed implementation date starting September 16, 2024.
Tara National Park covers nearly 25,000 hectares, with about 13,600 hectares state-owned and the remainder privately owned. The enterprise owns property in Bajina Bašta, including land totaling 51,467 square meters and a 200-square-meter building.
The LLC will continue the activities, ownership of assets, and obligations of the former public company without interruption. Existing contracts remain valid without amendments, and the Republic of Serbia will be the sole owner of the LLC. Legal proceedings involving the public enterprise will continue under the LLC’s name.
