The Association of Journalists of Serbia (UNS) called on free journalists who independently pay taxes and contributions for pension and health insurance to contact that organization for help in exercising the rights to the minimum that the state intended for the private sector due to the pandemic. The association draws attention to the fact that journalists and entrepreneurs who, according to the decisions of the tax administrations, pay pension and health insurance, receive such assistance according to the Decree on fiscal benefits for mitigating the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic, which has been in force since April 10 this year.
With the Conclusion of May 6 this year, the Government of Serbia provided financial assistance to the state for about 2,350 independent artists, including those whose local self-governments pay their social security obligations from their budgets.
In a statement, UNS estimates that the exclusion of freelance journalists from the state aid system is in contradiction not only with the mentioned Decree, but also with the regulations on the prevention of discrimination, Nova Ekonomija reports.
