112 micro and small companies from southeastern and southwestern Serbia will receive a non-refundable 2.5 million euros within the European Union’s “EU PRO” programs, Euinfo announced today.
The money, intended for the purchase of new equipment that will enable companies to improve production and create new jobs, will be given following the second public call conducted in the fall of 2019.
It is emphasized that micro and small companies in Serbia make up 99 percent of all registered business facilities and employ two thirds of all workers, and 60 percent of the gross domestic product of Serbia comes from that type of company.
“Therefore, increasing the competitiveness of Serbian companies, developing new products, creating new jobs, as well as establishing new companies and improving existing goals, which the European Union is helping Serbia to achieve with significant financial support,” the statement reads.
The goal of the EU PRO program, which is active in 99 municipalities in the southeast and southwest of Serbia, is to contribute to a more balanced socio-economic development of Serbia, and the European Union supports it with a total of 25 million euros.
“The program aims to contribute to increasing the competitiveness of micro and small enterprises, improving the business environment and improving social cohesion. Most of these enterprises operate in less developed municipalities, and almost half have production facilities in rural areas, making their impact on local communities even more significant,” Euinfo announced.
