The Serbian video game industry earned 120 million euros last year. More than 2,100 employees work in about 120 teams and companies, and about 30% are women, according to the latest report of the Serbian Video Game Industry (SGA – Serbian Gaming Association for 2020).
The headquarters of most companies, 60% of them, are located in Belgrade, followed by Novi Sad with 22 registered companies.
The fact that in 2021, two thirds of companies are planning new employments speaks in favor of the fact that this market will continue to grow. The majority, 76%, state that the pandemic did not affect funding.
Representatives of this industry in Serbia cite bureaucracy, lack of funding, double taxation with the United States and unadjusted legal frameworks as the biggest challenges, eKapija reports.
