The Spaniards expressed interest in renewable sources in Serbia, News
The Minister of Mining and Energy, Zorana Mihajlovic, talked today with the Ambassador of Spain to Serbia, Raul Bartolomeo, about the economic relations between the two countries, and especially emphasized the possibility of intensifying cooperation in the energy and mining sector and participation of Spanish companies in building new energy capacities using renewable sources.
Mihajlovic said that the laws that were passed were the basis for the implementation of the energy transition process, and pointed out that the potentials for cooperation between the two countries in the field of mining were not fully used.
– We have adopted four new laws that are in line with the highest EU standards. We have a law on the use of RES, which is very important and which is the basis for a new investment framework. The value of the projects of the new investment cycle is 17 billion euros, of which at least five billion will be in the field of RES. We will soon present a book of projects and Spanish companies are welcome, given the experience they have. There is enough space to raise cooperation in this area to a higher level – she said.
Raul Bartolome, the ambassador of Spain, pointed out that economic cooperation should be accompanied by excellent political ties.
“There is a lot of room for Spanish investors, especially because of the excellent conditions that exist in Serbia. I believe we can work together to increase capacity using renewable energy. We know how to implement it and I hope we can help. There is also room for investment of our companies in all future projects in mining” – he said.
The meeting also discussed the Jadar project and the possibilities for companies from this country to participate in the work of the future mine. The Deputy Prime Minister informed the ambassador about the legal framework and emphasized that the realization of this and all future projects in mining will depend on whether all the conditions for environmental protection are met, the website of the Ministry reports, eKapija reports.
