The company Sunoko has started a new sugar beet processing campaign, and this year it expects about one million tons of raw material from about 18,500 hectares of land and 160,000 tons of sugar produced, it was announced today.

The reception of sugar beet in the factories in Vrbas, Pećinci and Kovačica started at the end of September and the beginning of October.

The Sunoko company said that they will have a good season this year as well, regardless of the late sowing and unfavorable weather conditions such as droughts during March and summer, damage from frost, wind and frost during spring.

As it was pointed out, the company’s Research and Development Center works daily on solutions for obtaining higher productivity and quality, and their implementation certainly contributed to good production results despite the difficult conditions during the growing season.

“Sugar beet has shown that it is the queen of our fields this year as well. While other crops have significantly failed, we expect an average of over nine tons of sugar per hectare in the fields of Vojvodina, which is eight percent more than the five-year average of 8.3 tons per hectare. per hectare”, said Sunoko company director Slobodan Košutić.

He reminded that last year the company recorded a record sugar yield of almost 10 tons per hectare despite the summer drought.

“At the beginning of this year, the prices of other field crops were more attractive to farmers, which is why they decided to sow more of them. However, other crops are much more sensitive to drought, so the level of earnings was not what they expected. In this respect, sugar “beet is much safer for liquidity planning, because there are no major yield failures and the price is known a year in advance”, Košutić said.

When it comes to the terms of the sugar beet production contract for 2023, the company offers a price of 52 euros per ton of payable beet, with a bonus for producers who achieve above-average digestion.

Taking into account the drought and the difficult situation of producers, Sunoko, as announced, made a decision to provide additional support to farmers and show once again that it is a reliable partner that takes care of its suppliers.

The company has determined an incentive of 100 euros per hectare for all producers who delivered turnip crops in 2022 and signed a contract for 2023.

In addition, when signing the contract, as another form of assistance to producers and their liquidity, Sunoko provided an interest-free advance in the amount of 500 euros per hectare.

With an advance, the company provides them with quality raw materials at the most favorable terms on the market, support for the purchase of agricultural machinery and the lease of agricultural land.

Manufacturers can also count on expert and advisory assistance from the company’s Research and Development Center and raw materials sector.

Education and cooperation in the field of optimization of sugar beet production and the application of the most adequate protection technology results in a reduction of production costs, higher yields and better quality beets with a higher sugar content.

“Sunoko, with its three production centers, is one of the most efficient companies in the sugar industry in Europe and a regional leader in sugar production. With its production capacity, it fully meets domestic needs for this product and ensures a stable supply of sugar to the Serbian market”, the company stated, Beta reports.
