The Union of Employers of Serbia announced today that it is asking the authorities to adopt a quality framework for new forms of work that have become part of the practice, such as working outside the employer’s premises, stating that the initiative has already been sent to the Social and Economic Council.

As it was pointed out, the Union of Employers of Serbia believes that it is necessary to carefully analyze the advantages and disadvantages of working outside the employer’s premises, in order to ensure the competitiveness of the domestic economy, but also to improve working conditions for employees.

It is necessary to specify the differences between working from home and working remotely through an adequate framework and, as they stated, to introduce the possibility of regulating the employment relationship so that employees spend part of their working time at home.

They also believe that it is necessary to define the obligations regarding the equipment and means for work, compensation of labor costs, as well as the obligations of employers based on safety at work.

It was also pointed out that these and many other aspects of work from home are currently unregulated and are therefore subject to arbitrary assessment and decision, which is not in favor of either employers or employees.

The initiative of the Union of Employers of Serbia was sent to the Social and Economic Council, after which, if it is supported, it will be forwarded to the competent authorities of Serbia.

It is reminded that one of the most impressive changes due to the coronavirus pandemic was much more frequent work from home, due to health risks and prescribed state measures.
