Minister of Economy and Regional Development Nebojsa Ciric stated that US investment in Serbia has almost reached $1.5 billion.

Ciric, who is heading a Serbian delegation on a five-day visit to the United States, said in an interview for the Voice of America that economic cooperation between the two states has been relatively modest, but their economic relations, especially in investments arriving in Serbia, are on the rise.

He observed that the Serbian delegation is visiting the United States to talk with new interested investors, recalling that yesterday in New York, Serbian representatives met with the management of the NCR, a global leader in offering intellectual services to financial institutions.

The Minister announced talks at the American Chamber of Commerce, the economic secretariat and the OPIC, one of the most important American institutions supporting and insuring American companies from risk.

He recalled that last week an agreement was signed with Cooper Tires, the third largest US company, which will take over a part of the Krusevac-based Trayal, invest over €50 million and hire 300 workers.

The Serbian delegation will meet with State Department representatives to discuss bilateral economic and political relations, the Minister observed.
