Minister of Mining and Energy Zorana Mihajlovic said in Vranje on Friday that the works on the gas interconnection of Serbia and Bulgaria “will probably start in September”.
“Works on the interconnection Nis-Dimitrovgrad will probably start in September, that also applies to the part towards Vranje,” she said, according to a statement from the relevant ministry.
Mihajlovic stated that Serbia has already diversified its gas routes, and that “diversification of suppliers of that energy is key to security and independence.”
According to her, it is very important for Serbia, as in traffic, to be regionally connected when it comes to gas.
The value of the construction of the gas pipeline, as previously announced from Nis to the Bulgarian border, in the length of 109 kilometers, is 85 million euros, N1 reports.
