Support for reforms and project implementation aimed at strengthening Serbia’s economy remains the foundation of the strategic partnership between the Ministry of Agriculture and the World Bank, as emphasized during a meeting between Minister Dragan Glamočić and World Bank Country Director Nikola Pontara.
They reviewed results of ongoing projects, particularly the Serbia Competitive Agriculture Project (SCAP), which has shown strong impact on improving the competitiveness and productivity of small and medium-sized farms.
Pontara expressed the World Bank’s readiness to continue supporting projects if the Ministry is satisfied with current outcomes. Glamočić noted the need to assess budget capacities and consult with the Ministry of Finance for continued cooperation.
The discussion also covered the multi-phase Integrated Development of the Sava and Drina River Corridors Project, which focuses on flood protection and cross-border water cooperation.
The World Bank’s financial and expert assistance was highlighted as crucial for agricultural advancement in Serbia, including modernizing the incentive distribution system.
