The Republic of Yemen, the second-largest country on the Arabian Peninsula, is among 119 nations that have officially confirmed their participation in the Expo 2027 Belgrade Specialized Exhibition. The event’s theme, “Game(s) for Humanity: Sport and Music for All,” highlights the unifying power of culture and athletics. Danilo Jerinić, director of the EXPO 2027 company, extended an invitation to other Asian countries to join the exhibition, emphasizing the unique opportunity to experience Yemen’s rich cultural heritage firsthand.
Jerinić expressed excitement about the upcoming event in Belgrade, where for three months, visitors will have the rare privilege of immersing themselves in Yemen’s ancient history and vibrant traditions. He noted that the Serbian capital will unite the world around music, dance, and sports—universal values that connect people across cultures. “We warmly invite other Asian countries to join us in celebrating human creativity and innovation at Expo 2027,” he said.
Yemen joined the International Bureau of Exhibitions (BIE) in 1997 and participated for the first time in a Specialized Exhibition in Lisbon in 1998. Since then, the country has been a regular presence at international expos and notably won a gold medal at Expo 2020 in Dubai for its thematic interpretation.
Yemeni culture is deeply rooted in its ancient history and contributes significantly to the diversity of the Arab world. The country boasts a wide array of traditional games and dances, each with unique characteristics. Over 60 types of traditional Yemeni dances have been identified, grouped into three main categories: Al-Zaffin, Al-Sharh, and Al-Bara, each representing distinct cultural expressions and regional heritage.
