In its fifth year of operation, the Zlatibor Gold Gondola welcomed its millionth passenger, as announced by JP Gold Gondola Zlatibor. The title of the millionth passenger was awarded to the Stojičić family from Vlasotince, consisting of four members.

As a reward, the Stojičić family received one million rides on the Gold Gondola, a plaque – a handcrafted piece from the local Tiffany workshop, a package of authentic products from the Gondola Shop, a brunch in the air, and various other gifts from the gondola’s partners, including a free stay in Zlatibor, spa and wellness services, and local attractions.

The awards were presented to the family by Bojana Božanić, the director of JP Gold Gondola Zlatibor, who said:

“Through our activities and all the services we provide, we have reached the milestone of one million passengers. This historic achievement is an additional motivation for us to provide even better entertainment quality in harmony with nature and the needs of the modern tourist as we aim for the next million.”

Nearly one in three visitors to Zlatibor spends at least one day on the gondola. Besides tourists from all over Serbia, most passengers come from neighboring countries such as Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Croatia, Slovenia, and Bulgaria. Among international visitors, the largest groups are from China, Russia, India, and Malta.

“This is our first ride this year, even though we visit Zlatibor several times a year. We are all so excited – my husband Nikola, and our children Pavle and Luka. We hadn’t planned to ride today, but the kids insisted on taking the gondola ride because they really enjoy playing here. I hope we can use all these gifts,” said Andrijana Stojičić.

“We were amazed, we didn’t expect this. We saw something was being prepared, but didn’t know what. They told us to move to the right side, and suddenly fireworks started. Of all the mountains, we choose Zlatibor most often; we come here at least three times a year, always in September for my birthday,” added Nikola Stojičić.

The nine-kilometer state-of-the-art air route and 72 cabins represent a major project of the Čajetina municipality, valued at 13.5 million euros. This project proved its viability in the first year of operation and has become an economic driver for the entire Zlatibor region. According to business analyses and projections, the millionth passenger was expected in the first half of this year. Plans are already in place for investments in new attractions at the top of Tornik and a new cable car route to Pribojska Banja, as stated by JP Gold Gondola Zlatibor.
