The Serbian Ministry of Economy is endeavoring to issue calls for bids to privatize a total of 28 enterprises in restructuring by the end of this month, in order to protect them from forced collection, State Secretary in the Ministry Dragan Stevanovic said Tuesday.

We are talking about enterprises likely to see calls for their sale issued, Stevanovic told reporters in the Serbian government, after a meeting of the Social and Economic Council.

Under Serbia’s privatization law, creditors cannot demand forced collection from enterprises in restructuring undergoing privatization by public tender or auction methods, while the protection of other enterprises in restructuring from such claims expires on May 31.

The Economy Ministry will try to protect those enterprises from forced collection until October 31, or the end of the third tender process for their sale, said Stevanovic.
