The works will begin next year and the project should be completed within two years.

The value of the investment will total EUR 20 million and the works will be financed from the IPA fund for the period 2016/2017 as a grant the country will receive from the EU, Mihajlovic said.

There is a total of 350 terminals in 20 countries in Europe at this point, and there is no reason why Serbia should not have such a terminal because it will help reduce the logistic costs which currently have a stake of almost 25 percent in Serbia’s total costs, Mihajlovic said and added that the aim of the project is to increase competitiveness and facilitate transport of goods.

The capacity of the intermodal terminal totals 80,000 containers and its construction will reduce the stake of logistic costs in total costs to 10-12 percent.
