First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic met yesterday in New York with the foreign ministers of Turkey and Bosnia and Herzegovina, Feridun Hadi Sinirlioglu and Igor Crnadak.

The ministers welcomed the holding of the first meeting of the Trilateral Trade Committee of the Republic of Serbia, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Turkey in Ankara on 17 and 18 August, and the forthcoming trilateral business forum in Sarajevo on 20 October.

They also discussed the possibility of holding a trilateral meeting at the presidential and prime ministers’ level.

Dacic stressed that one of the objectives of this trilateral meeting is regional stability and added that the government of Serbia wants to maintain good relations with Bosnia-Herzegovina.

He noted that the three sides should seek common interests, with special emphasis on cooperation in the field of economy and the definition of projects of regional importance (infrastructure projects, projects in the field of defence, agriculture and tourism).

The ministers also discussed other current issues, such as the fight against terrorism and the issue of migrants.

Dacic last night met with Foreign Minister of Fiji Ratu Inoke Kubuabola.

The ministers expressed a desire to improve bilateral relations through enhancing political dialogue, and on this occasion Dacic was invited to visit Fiji.

Although Fiji recognised the unilaterally proclaimed independence of Kosovo two years ago, Dacic asked for understanding for the attitude of the Republic of Serbia when it comes to Kosovo’s request for admission to UNESCO, according to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
