The government will not give up on offering subsidies – it is actually considering to raise them to attract more foreign investors, Aleksandar Vucic has said.

“We would like to be more competitive in attracting new investments,” Vucic said on Wednesday.

The government also plans to introduce subsidies of 25-30 percent for startups, the head of the outgoing government added.

At a cornerstone laying ceremony for a new plant of German maker of automotive seat heating systems IGB Automotive Comp, Vucic and German Ambassador Axel Dittmann said it was a good signal for prospective German investors.

The investment is worth EUR 4.5 million and will create 500 jobs over the next five years.

The plant is expected to be completed on time and hire over 2,000 employees by 2017, the prime minister added.
