Serbia has achieved significant progress in development of institutions to ensure reliable financial reporting, Serbian Finance Minister Dusan Vujovic said in Vienna on Thursday.

We have not completed the reform process, we have ambitious plans and we want to build an international reputation for Serbia as a model of transparency in business, Vujovic told a biennial ministerial conference in Vienna organised by the World Bank Centre for Financial Reporting Reform.

That will make Serbian companies more attractive to investors from our European partner countries and beyond, he said.

During a high-level panel discussion, the finance ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo and Serbia discussed ways in which quality financial reporting can act as a catalyst for boosting trust, transparency and reliability, creating an environment favourable for sustainable economic growth, creation of new jobs and development across the region, a World Bank statement said.

The conference brought together finance ministers, senior government officials and representatives of the business, professional and academic communities from Europe and Central Asia, as well as experts from key international organisations, the statement said.
