The deputy mayor of Belgrade, Goran Vesic, said that not only parts of the country are connected with the construction of the highways, but also Serbia with other countries.

Deputy Mayor pointed out that the opening of the section of the highway from Surcin to Obrenovac was impressive, and reminded that the construction of roads and infrastructure enables the development of the country, which, according to Serbian President Aleksander Vucic, is the basis of the current government.

– When you build infrastructure, then the country develops. Many laughed or assaulted President Vucic when, about two years ago, at the opening of the Dimitrovgrad-Pirot section, his dream was 1,200 kilometers of highway. Now we can see that we are getting closer to that goal – Vesic told TV Pink.

According to Beoinfo, he added that it is not only important for the development of Belgrade, which is important to connect with other parts of Serbia, but also for all those parts of the country, because in this way they are developing.

– Following the opening of the Surčin-Obrenovac section, it is very important for Belgrade to provide a link between New Belgrade and Surcin. The section will be 7.9 kilometers long and will have four lanes of traffic. It will be a fast road and will enable citizens to connect to the highway “Milos the Great” in ten or fifteen minutes – Vesic added.

He said that the section would significantly relieve the current highway through downtown Belgrade, where there are frequent crowds, which is a priority for the city.

Vesic also referred to the works on the Ring Road, stating that the section from Bubanj creek to Orlovaca is currently in operation, and when it is finished, the current highway through Belgrade will become a local boulevard.
