Subotica Assembly members approved a decision to develop a Detailed Regulation Plan for the construction of the Maestrale Ring Wind Farm, an investment worth 700 million euros. The funds needed for the development of the plan will be provided by the company Wind Farm “Maestrale Ring”, whose headquarters is in Belgrade, and is founded by the joint stock company Fintel Energija, writes eKapija portal.

The plan will be developed by the Public Company for Road Management, Urban Planning and Housing Subotica and Projektura doo Belgrade. Fintel Energy CEO Ticiano Giovanetti announced in February this year that with these projects, Serbia would be among the fastest countries to engage in energy transition, from fossil fuels to clean energy.

It is envisaged that the wind farm will be installed in the southeastern part of the administrative area of the City of Subotica between the settlements Cantavir, Višnjevac, Gabric, Bikovo, Stari and Novi Zednik, and the area of the wind generator will be at least 1,000 meters away from the construction zone of populated areas.

The area covers an area of approximately 10,800 hectares. It is estimated that the wind farm, which will be built in Cantavir, will be able to produce 600 megawatts (MW) of electricity, which, according to local media, is enough electricity for half a million households.

“The development and use of renewable energy sources (RES) will need to be stimulated in the coming planning period, which will have a significant impact on improving the standard of living and protecting and preserving the natural and environmental environment”.

The Republic of Serbia has natural advantages and good potential for the production of energy from renewable sources, which could contribute to reducing the country’s import dependence and reducing the harmful effects of the greenhouse, said the Decision on the elaboration of the Detailed Regulation Plan for the construction of the Maestrale Ring wind farm.
