A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the governments of Serbia and Switzerland on the project “Technopark Serbia 2 – encouraging exports through the development of technology parks”.

The agreement was signed by Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development Mladen Sarcevic and Swiss Ambassador to Serbia Philip Ge. The aim of the project is to improve the competitiveness of the economy and increase the export of high-tech companies from Serbia.

The Swiss government will donate 3.75 million Swiss francs over the next four years to support the further development of innovation and the expansion of the science and technology parks network in Serbia through this project, which builds on the previous one, which is also funded by the Swiss government.

Swiss Ambassador to Serbia Philip Ge pointed out that the value of this project is 3.3 million euros.

“It is less a matter of money and much more about the friendship between our two countries. Very impressive results were achieved in the first project in Belgrade, which developed more than 300 new high-tech jobs and 25 million euros in additional revenue thanks to the export of products and services”, Ge said.

Belgrade Science and Technology Park is now being developed by more than 70 startup and technology development companies. During the realization of the new project, thanks to the achieved results, the model of knowledge and experience of STP Belgrade will be transferred to Nis and Cacak to assist the development of science and technology parks in these cities.

Minister Sarcevic explained that the project in Nis is at an advanced stage and that the realization of the project in Cacak is beginning.

“Belgrade 1 and 2, now Nis, and Cacak is not the end. We have a huge appreciation for the Swiss government, not only in understanding these projects, but also for other projects in the field of science and education. Swiss experts help us a lot in many fields.

“All that is being done is to keep young people and scientists in the country”, Sarcevic said.
