The energy situation is absolutely stable and in 2020 the energy sector entered tight and ready to provide citizens with a secure supply of all key energy products, said Energy Minister Aleksandar Antic.

The Electric Power Industry of Serbia and Srbijagas will work even more efficiently – Antic replied to a reporter’s question on what the announcement of Prime Minister Ana Brnabic means that the Serbia 2025 program envisages reform of these two state-owned companies.

Managing Director of EPS, Milorad Grcic, states that the company has significantly improved its business, since it reduced losses and significantly increased collection of current and old claims.

The Electric Power Industry of Serbia ended 2019 with almost five percent more coal production than in the previous year and produced about 38.5 million tons of coal, while Kolubara miners dug about 30 million tons, said Grcic.

According to EPS, Grcic said while visiting the G field with Minister of Mining and Energy Aleksandar Antic, thermal power plants produced about three percent more electricity than in 2018. Highlighting the importance of the Kolubara mine Field “G”, Grcic pointed out that higher quality coal is beginning to be dug, which is very important for thermal power plants.

“About seven kilometers of Ibar Highway have been relocated and a new thoroughfare has been completed. We expect that will be released soon. It is a prerequisite for the advancement of Field ‘G’ and the discovery of new coal volumes”, Grcic said.

He reminded that the production of the discovery was started at the new mine “Radljevo”, adding that in the mining sector, the development of projects for the procurement of two new BTO (excavator-belt-depositor) systems is underway, which will significantly increase the production of discovery in Kolubara.
