The first gas flows from the Turkish Stream will flow through the main gas pipeline in Serbia in the second half of the year, most probably in October, when the gas season begins.
According to Minister of Energy and Mining Aleksandar Antic, laying of pipes along the 403-kilometer gas pipeline in our country has been completed, adding that it is necessary to complete the measuring stations and a large compressor station in the vicinity of Zabar, which should ensure the full function of the pipeline.
Antic expects the compressor station near Zabar to be completed in the second half of the year. He explained that, upon the launch of the compressor station in Bulgaria and the said station in Serbia, the necessary pressure would be provided for the gas to continue flowing to Hungary and further to the central European gas storage facilities, reports Srbija Danas.
– As planned, last year we finished laying pipes from the border with Bulgaria to the border with Hungary. It is a project that has been realized with extraordinary dynamics, since the first activities started at the end of April 2019 and already in December 403 kilometers of pipes were laid – he said. He said that few believed in it, but everything was realized thanks to the good organization and participation of a large number of Serbian companies.
– Serbia is ready. Due to delays in Bulgaria with the start of the works, it is expected that they will finish the works by the middle of the year. So, it is expected that in the second half of the year, from the beginning of the next gas season, which starts in October, the first volumes of gas from Bulgaria to Serbia will start – the minister points out.
He adds that Hungary will get that gas later, after the compressor stations have been built in its territory.
