Employment and construction growth in Serbia

According to the data provided by the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia, in October 2019, as compared to the previous month, the registered employment increased by 0.4 percent or 9.183 persons.

Compared to October 2018, the total registered employment is higher by 1.6 percent, or by 33.879 persons, according to the October 2019 monthly statistical bulletin.

The value of construction works performed by contractors from the Republic of Serbia for the period January-September 2019 increased by 27 percent at current prices, compared to the same period in 2018, according to data from the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia.

In terms of type of construction, the value of construction put in place in the same period increased by 24.9 percent, and at other buildings by 28.1 percent, at current prices.

The value of new contractors from the Republic of Serbia for the period January – September 2019 increased by 115.3 percent in current prices compared to the same period in 2018.

The total number of building permits issued for the period January – October 2019 increased by 9.6% compared to the same period of the previous year, according to the monthly statistical bulletin of the SRS.

Industrial production in the period January – October 2019, compared to the same period in 2018, decreased by 0.7 percent, data from the Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia show. In October 2019, industrial production in the Republic of Serbia increased by 0.5 percent compared to October 2018, and increased by 10.5 percent compared to the average in 2018.

Viewed by sector, in October 2019, compared to the same month in 2018, the manufacturing industry sector grew 1.5 percent, while the mining sector declined 1.6 percent. In the observed period, the sector of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning fell by 4.2 percent, according to the monthly statistical bulletin of the Republic Bureau of Statistics, reports Dnevnik.
