Last year was the most economically successful year in the past decade, Finance Minister Sinisa Mali said today.
Specifically, average earnings reached the planned 500 euros, even exceeded it, and continue to increase every month. Pensions are rising steadily and the minimum wage has more than doubled.
“2019 was an important year for us for two reasons: first, financial consolidation was completed, and second, by economic results, it was the most successful year in the past decade”, Sinisa Mali told Prva TV.
The finance minister pointed out that Serbia had the highest economic growth in Europe in the last quarter of last year, 6.1 percent, while public debt was well below 50 percent of GDP, as if we had a budget surplus for four years.
“We are by far the most sought after country for foreign direct investment”, Mali added.
“In the first quarter of this year, according to the Ministry of Finance’s projections, nominal wage growth is already 8.7 percent. The goal is to have an average wage of 900 euros at the end of 2025”, Mali said, B92 reports.
