The Minister for European Integration and the National IPA Coordinator Jadranka Joksimovic sent a project proposal for technical assistance within the Investment Framework for the Western Balkans, in the field of transport, energy, environment and social infrastructure, worth 21.6 million euros, it was announced today from her office.
Some of these projects were nominated for IPA III funds for 2021 and 2022, and Joksimovic said that “strategic priorities in these areas have been carefully considered” and that they have decided on “those whose implementation will ensure the development of capital infrastructure and contribute to the realization of key development investments in different parts of Serbia as well as its connection with neighboring markets.”
She added that all proposals for the preparation of projects in the field of energy and transport are in line with the Connecting Agenda, which significantly contributes to socio-economic development and strengthening economic cooperation in the region.
In the field of transport, the preparation of projects of great strategic importance for Serbia is proposed, and they refer to the reconstruction and modernization of the railway sections Stalac-Kraljevo-Rudnica and Doljevac-Merdare, as well as the continuation of the construction of the highway Nis-Merdare, section Plocnik-Merdare, said Joksimovic.
The Steering Board of the Western Balkans Investment Framework will make a formal decision in December on which proposals will be supported, Danas reports.
