The NBS has brought new measures, including a solution that gives the bank the opportunity to approve a loan of up to 800 euros to a person who does not receive a salary through an account.
For these loans with a maturity of up to two years, banks will be able to accept the signed statement of the debtor, given under full criminal and material responsibility, as proof of employment and earnings or pension in the last three months.
“As a rule, approving microcredits to a large number of citizens is much less risky for banks than large individual loans, that is, it is a matter of risk dispersion,” Hasan Hanic, a professor at the Belgrade Banking Academy, explained to B92.net.
According to him, it will probably be used mostly by parents whose children go to school to buy everything that students need at the beginning of the school year.
“In that case, when that amount is divided into 24 months, there is a very small installment, and as it is the recommendation of the NBS, banks are not obliged to make reservations in relation to what stimulates them to give such loans,” says Hanic, which assumes that the statement being signed will have bill of exchange force.
The goal is to stimulate the consumption of citizens
“I assume that these measures have the goal of stimulating the consumption of citizens and thus contributing to the strengthening of economic activity, ie mitigating its decline in the third and fourth quarters,” said for our portal Prof. Dr. Mladjen Kovacevic, member of the Academy of Economic Sciences.
As he says, it is difficult to say whether the citizens will decide to borrow when, due to the possible strengthening of the coronavirus epidemic, uncertain autumn and winter await us in terms of the impact of the pandemic on economic trends in the country, Kamatica reports.
