Total foreign remittances to Serbia decline 21.2% y/y in H1

Total foreign remittances to Serbia decreased by 21.2% year-on-year to 1.322 billion euro ($1.567 billion) in the first half of 2020, central bank data shows.
In June alone, total foreign remittances to Serbia, including all current transfers between resident and non-resident households, declined by 9.4% on the year to 271 million euro, according to figures published by the central bank in a balance of payments report.
The remittances of citizens working abroad went down by 26.7% year-on-year in the first six months of 2020 to 933 million euro, after declining 12.4% on the year to 211 million euro in June, the data showed.
The flow of foreign remittances into Serbia decreased to 3.52 billion euro in 2019 from 3.53 billion euro in 2018, SeeNews reports.
