Today, the Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, Zorana Mihajlovic, talked with the Director of the Permanent Secretariat of the Transport Community in Belgrade, Matej Zakonjesk, about strategic goals and priorities in the field of transport and regional connections.
On that occasion, Mihajlovic pointed out that it is very important not only that the seat of the Secretariat is in Belgrade, but also that the agreement on the Transport Community was previously signed and that great joint work on improving transport and further connections awaits us.
She underlined that our goals and priorities are common – from the construction and safety of roads, investments in railway traffic, to the removal of non-physical barriers, more efficient and faster border crossing.
– All that will contribute to a better connection of the region, and there is nothing more important than that if we want to develop and our economies to progress – the Minister stated.
– We will do everything to be even more developed and connected, because that means a better life and a better position of Serbia on the road to the European Union – concluded Mihajlovic.
Zakonjsek expressed gratitude to the Government of Serbia and Vice President Mihajlovic for the great help and support for the Transport Community to be established and for its headquarters to be in Belgrade, stating that today’s meeting focused on improving transport and connecting Serbia and the region.
He pointed out that we are all in a new moment, conditioned by the coronavirus epidemic, which also affects the methodology for the enlargement of the European Union.
The Director of the Permanent Secretariat expressed confidence that transport and regional connectivity would play a key role in recovery and further progress.
He also expressed satisfaction with the fact that he began his term with a meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister, with the conviction that the two institutions will continue to cooperate successfully, eKapija reports.
