Growth of business mood and employment in Serbia

Optimism among businessmen in Serbia and their expectations regarding future employment strengthened in September 2020 compared to the previous month, according to a study by the European Commission published today.
The business sentiment index in Serbia, calculated by the Commission, rose from 82.7 points in August to 89.8 points in September, according to the results of a survey published on the EC’s official website.
The indicator of expectations of new employment among businessmen in Serbia also jumped from the August level of 102.1 points to 109.6 points in September.
Business sentiment in Serbian industry has improved significantly, where according to the Commission’s indicators, the index advanced from minus 3.1 points in August to minus 1.6 points this month, while in the services sector business expectations jumped from minus 18.9 points last month to minus 10.4 in September.
Serbian consumer confidence index rose by 6.2 points in September compared to 4.0 points in August, while in the retail sector the business mood shifted from a minus of 5.1 points in August to positive territory in September with an index of plus 1.9 points.
Only among companies from the construction sector, there was an increase in pessimism in September, considering that the business mood dropped to minus 7.1 points from the level of minus 3.2 points in August, according to the results of the research of the European Commission, Nova reports.
