A contract for a new corridor is being signed in Serbia

Serbia will start the construction of another highway – the Frushkogorski Corridor, for which, as Tanjug has learned, a contract in the Government of Serbia with the Chinese company CRBC should be signed on Tuesday, October 6.
The value of the contract is 606 million euros.
In mid-September, the Serbian government approved a contract for the construction of the Fruska Gora corridor, within which a 3.5-kilometer tunnel through Fruska gora will be built, which will be the longest tunnel in Serbia.
Also, another 1.8-kilometer bridge over the Danube will be built.
A few days ago, the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, stated that as many as four highways are currently being built in Serbia and that the project for the fifth, that is, the Fruska Gora Corridor, for which a contract has yet to be signed, is underway.
That will be very important for the city of Novi Sad, as well as the whole of Backa and Srem, said Vucic.
The Preljina-Požega highway on Corridor 11, the Moravian Corridor, ie the highway from Preljina to Pojat, the highway to Sarajevo from Kuzmin to Sremska Raca, the Ruma-Sabac highway and the Sabac-Loznica expressway, as well as the highway at the end, are currently being built in Serbia.
The Frushkogorski corridor will officially be a fast road from Ruma to Novi Sad in the length of 47.7 kilometers, which will connect the highways to Shid and Subotica.
It will have four lanes 3.5 meters wide, but it will not have stop lanes, which is why it will not be run as a classic highway but as a fast road.
The construction of the Frushkogorski corridor is important, because it connects to the direction of Ruma – Sabac-Loznica.
The Fruska Gora corridor will connect three municipalities: Novi Sad, Irig and Ruma, and it will also solve the problem of the passage of trucks through Fruska Gora and through Irig.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction Zorana Mihajlovic previously told Tanjug that on September 15, the government approved a commercial contract for the construction of the Frushkogorski corridor with the Chinese company CRBC, since a loan for financing had previously been approved from the Chinese Exim Bank.
“We will complete the project-technical documentation by the end of the year, and I believe that we will finally be able to start the works on the Frushkogorski corridor by the end of next year,” the minister said, Dnevnik reports.
