The outgoing Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, Zorana Mihajlovic, signed a letter of interest by which the Ministry supports the project of establishing the Center for Excellence in Railway Research and Innovation for the South East Europe Railway Research and Innovation Center (SEERRIC).
The center was created as a joint project of the RCSEE and the Center for Railway Research and Education at the University of Birmingham, and its establishment continues the activities of the Network for Railway Research and Innovation for Southeast Europe (SEERRIN), a partnership project of RCSEE and leading faculties in the region, reports the website of the Railway Cluster for SE Europe.
It is added that the work of the center is of strategic importance for the railway sector in the region and that it will enable raising the level of knowledge of new generations of experts necessary for the development and maintenance of modern railway systems.
In addition, the center, in cooperation with British partners, will help export-oriented suppliers to market their solutions globally, connect them with other innovative companies and help develop innovation and finance promising innovation projects.
By signing the Letter of Intent, the Ministry expressed its belief in the significant need for a partnership that will connect railway companies, suppliers, universities and institutions, and expressed its readiness to work closely with all SEERRIN actors to improve knowledge, technology and faster industry renewal in nine countries of Southeast Europe, eKapija reports.
