The potential and interest of young people in Serbia for work in the food production industry exists, and it is up to the educational system to help and direct them to find their place on the market, said the participants of the online panel for the project “Future of Serbian food industry”.
As stated in the statement, the current impression of young producers is that support exists, but that more support and guidance of young producers is needed in order to decide on a career in this industry.
“Interest exists and grows, and the example is the craft beer industry, where there is noticeable enthusiasm among craft beer producers in terms of innovation, product recognition and new recipes,” said Viktor Nedovic, professor at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Belgrade and president of the Food Technology Association of Serbia.
Apart from Nedovic, Dragan Jonić from the Center for the Care of Man and Nature AMA, Bosko Jovanovic from the family company Polo Cacak, as well as Milos Pejcinovic from the Association for the Promotion of Serbian Food spoke at the panel.
As a conclusion of the research of the project “Growing breeders”, conducted in Serbia and Croatia, it is stated that young farmers are a vulnerable social group, with the greatest support within the family, while the state is there as a guarantor, investor and source of education.
This panel discussion intended for the municipality of Cacak was the eighth and last in a series of workshops held online due to the current pandemic.
The project was organized by the Association for the Promotion of Serbian Food, and under the auspices of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Serbia, Nova Ekonomija reports.
