The Minister of Mining and Energy of Serbia, Zorana Mihajlovic, stated today that the Electric Networks of Serbia (EMS) contributes to the development of the energy system of Serbia and that the company is a pillar of stability in the regional connection of the country in the field of energy.
“In order for Serbia to be the most important transit corridor, then EMS must operate the best it can, and in relation to all companies in this sector, it is one of the best. Our common interest is to connect with the region,” Mihajlovic said after the talks with the director of EMS Jelena Matejic on the operations of this public company, financial and technical parameters, as well as the implementation of projects of national importance.
She pointed out that Serbia is realizing one of the biggest projects in this area, the construction of the Trans-Balkan Corridor, which will enable the transfer of a sufficient amount of energy, with a minimum amount of losses, thus creating a sustainable and safe system.
Mihajlovic added that the meeting focused on future activities, financial and organizational structure of the company, and that it is important for Serbia to maintain its position in the field of energy infrastructure and further development due to the challenges it brings this year and next.
“That requires the vigilance of all directors and the entire sector, and we, as the line ministry, are here to help, provide support and react in possible critical points,” concluded Mihajlovic.
The director of EMS, Jelena Matejic, said that important topics were opened at the meeting and that close cooperation between the companies in the electricity system and the relevant ministry is necessary.
“Energy is a key factor for the stability and security of the whole of Serbia, not only the energy system. Energy is a potential for further growth and development of the economy and the state,” she said.
She said that EMS will try to continue successfully and on time to implement all projects that will contribute to the safety of the electrical system, Beta reports.
