As for the necessary regulations, Serbia is currently fully prepared for the introduction of the 5G network, retired professor at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and former advisor at the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications, Irina Reljin, told biznis.rs.
She points out that the conflict between China and the United States does not affect our country, where equipment is selected according to the principles of technological neutrality, and adds that in Serbia equipment is procured by operators and the state has no influence on their choice, except that all required quality conditions and security must subsequently be checked by the regulatory body for electronic communications.
Reljin adds that it is expected that the first auction for the allocation of 5G frequencies will be announced during 2021, and that the first 5G network in Serbia will almost certainly be launched by the end of the same.
As was the case in almost all countries where the introduction of 5G technology was announced, part of the public in Serbia also complained about the possible harmful effects on the environment and human health.
However, Professor Reljin points out that so far no research has proven that the 5G network is a threat to health. On the contrary, it is a radio frequency spectrum that has been used in telecommunications before and exists in our environment, only now it is being repurposed for public mobile systems.
She says that it is much more important how we use our mobile phones every day, considering that the biggest problem is their heating from excessive use, Dnevnik reports.
