– Skiing as a sport cannot spread the corona, but the behavior of people after getting off the track can – warns the line minister.
The Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications, Tatjana Matic, stated today, on the occasion of the beginning of the ski season, that the relevant ministry recommended that we wait with that, reports Tanjug.
– We thought it was good for the opening of the season to be after Orthodox Christmas – Matic told RTS and added that there were many ways to explain to skiers how they must protect themselves in order to prevent corona virus infection.
She stated that the Public Company “Ski Resorts of Serbia” decides on the beginning of the ski season.
– If you ask me if the pictures from Kopaonik are good, of course they are not. On the contrary, we believe that they are counterproductive and that there were many ways to explain to the citizens who wanted to ski how to protect themselves – Matic pointed out, talking about the crowds that were created at the beginning of the ski season.
She said that they understand companies for which as many tourists as possible are important, but she emphasized that this cannot justify the irresponsible behavior of citizens or public companies.
– We think that this is just a question of an organization that is not that complicated – says Matic.
She stated that “Ski Resorts of Serbia” has done a lot when it comes to booking and selling ski passes, and that a lot of it has been digitized, in order to have as little physical contact as possible.
Matic pointed out that skiing as a sport cannot spread the crown, but that people’s behavior after getting off the track can.
– The economy must understand that this is the moment when we are all on the same task. We are trying through various measures to help the economy survive, but responsibility must be taken – said Matic.
She pointed out that the Ministry is not in favor of closing the season, but that the occupancy of the hotel must be limited to a maximum of 50 percent of the capacity, RTS reports.
