Some categories of persons earning income from abroad, such as those who earn by playing games of chance, or apartment owners who earn by renting an “apartment per day” should be considered as special categories that are in no way jeopardized by the announced collection of five-year taxes and contributions of natural persons who earn income from abroad, is the conclusion of yesterday’s meeting of the Government of Serbia and representatives of the Association of Workers on the Internet.
A statement from the Serbian government states that Prime Minister Ana Brnabic announced the drafting of a new law that will regulate non-standard, ie flexible forms of work, and invited representatives of the Association to join the working group that will draft the law.
According to Prime Minister Brnabic, the goal of the government is to find an adequate solution as soon as possible, so that those who work online can continue their business and earn income.
“The Prime Minister pointed out that the Government of Serbia is ready to work on a systemic solution to taxation for these categories of people, but yes, it also cannot allow the collapse of the state tax system. She also reminded that in 2018 the government provided relief to young people in Serbia when establishing their own companies, by releasing taxes in the first year of operation,” the statement reads.
At the meeting, which was also attended by the Minister of Finance Sinisa Mali and the Director of the Tax Administration Dragana Markovic, it was agreed to define the categories of workers on the Internet who have received or are expecting Tax Administration decisions for tax collection in the past five years, in order to find an adequate solution for those categories of persons who are particularly vulnerable.
In that sense, it was agreed to hold meetings next week through representatives of the Association of Internet Workers, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Labor, Employment, Veterans and Social Affairs and the Tax Administration, in order to discuss the current situation in the most efficient and transparent way, Nova Ekonomija reports.
