The priority of the state is to increase the number and quality of startups in Serbia

At yesterday’s session, the Government of Serbia made a decision on the formation of the Working Group for the development of a proposal for the strategy for the development of the startup ecosystem of Serbia from 2021 to 2025.
By adopting the strategy, the development of the startup ecosystem is set on a formal and systemic basis, and its goal is economic development, GDP growth, export growth and higher employment in our country.
– Over the next six months, the working group will work on drafting a strategy that will include priority policies for accelerated development of startup ecosystems with an emphasis on increasing the number and quality of startups through public and private investments, providing access to entrepreneurial capital and improving local and regional connectivity to domestic startup ecosystem – said the Government of Serbia.
The working group consists of 38 members, representatives of the state, civil and private sectors who will work together, using their knowledge and experience from domestic and foreign startup ecosystems, to contribute to the content and quality of this document.
The body will be chaired by Nebojsa Djurdjevic, director of the Digital Serbia Initiative, a non-governmental and non-profit organization, and includes representatives of relevant ministries and other state institutions, including the Innovation Fund, all four science and technology parks, the National Bank of Serbia and the Office for Information Technology and eGovernment.
The group will include the World Bank, the Serbian Chamber of Commerce, five ICT clusters, as well as representatives of the civil sector dealing with this area – including ICT Hub, Impact Hub, Serbian Blockchain Initiative and NALED.
On behalf of the Digital Serbia Initiative and the organization Serbian Entrepreneurs, the working group will also include successful technological entrepreneurs such as Igor Bogićevic, Zoran Vasiljev and Tihomir Bajic, eKapija reports.
