12.5 million euros for the Trans-Balkan Corridor in Serbia

An agreement on the allocation of investment funds of 12.5 million euros for the Trans-Balkan Corridor was signed today in the Government of Serbia.
The agreement is on the allocation of investment funds of 12.5 million euros for the Trans-Balkan Corridor project, construction of a new double transmission line Obrenovac – Bajina Basta of 400 kw.
It was signed by the Minister of Mining and Energy Zorana Mihajlovic, the Minister of European Integration Jadranka Joksimovic, the Director of the Electric Network of Serbia (EMS) Jelena Matejic and the Director of the Office of the German KfW Bank in Serbia Rudiger Hartmann.
German Ambassador to Serbia Thomas Schieb also attended the signing of the agreement.
The Minister of Mining and Energy, Zorana Mihajlovic, stated today that the construction of the Trans-Balkan Corridor is important for Serbia, because it will enable a better and higher quality electricity supply, reduce losses and connect our country with the region.
After signing the Agreement on the allocation of investment funds for the section Obrenovac – Bajina Basta within the Trans-Balkan Corridor, Minister Mihajlovic said that the total value of that corridor is 157 million euros, and that it will be 321 kilometers long.
Today, a grant of 12.5 million euros was provided for the section Obrenovac – Bajina Basta, and Mihajlovic points out that the length of that section will be 109 kilometers, and its total value is 60 million euros.
Mihajlovic stated that one of the sections connecting Serbia and Romania has been completed within the Trans-Balkan Corridor, that works are underway on the section from Kragujevac to Kraljevo, and expressed hope that an agreement on investment funds for another section of the Trans-Balkan Corridor from Bajina Basta will be signed soon. Gardens to the border with BiH and Montenegro.
“The Trans-Balkan corridor will enable what our vision is somewhere, and that is to be a transit corridor in energy as well, not only in traffic,” said Mihajlovic, B92 reports.
