Wise investments will further strengthen the Serbian economy

The ambassadors of the USA and Great Britain, Anthony Godfrey and Shan McLeod, expressed satisfaction today with the progress of works on the Moravian Corridor despite the pandemic, the construction of the bridge over South Morava near Stalac, on the 113-kilometer road and estimated that thanks to that investment
“Serbia’s economy was strong at the beginning of the pandemic, and it will be strong after it, thanks to the wise investments of the Government of Serbia in the future of the country,” Godfrey said.
Investing in highways that stimulate the economy will help Serbia become an important factor in the Balkans and connect more than half a million people in Serbia, Godfrey said.
He added that the construction of the highway will boost the growth of over 20,000 small and medium enterprises.
Optical cables along the entire highway route will be the digital backbone of the entire region, which will mean fast internet and better communication with the whole world, said the US ambassador, who sincerely thanked Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic for the invitation to attend this tour and because he pays great attention to the project.
He added that he was proud of the cooperation with the Government of Serbia and thanked the state leadership of Serbia for providing vaccines for all employees of the company Bechtel, which is working on that project.
He also thanked the Government of Serbia for choosing the world-successful company Bechtel for the realization of the project, which has the task and knowledge to build that highway.
“I will dedicate myself to monitoring the work on the project until it is finished, and then I will be proud of the partnership with Serbia in its economic development, drive on the highway,” Godfrey said, adding that after that everyone will have the opportunity to follow, as he said, economic growth and prosperity of this region and this country.
Ambassador McLeod expressed satisfaction that she can see the progress of the project, and added that she was very pleased that Britain supports the development of infrastructure in Serbia.
“It is extremely important that such important projects be built to high standards, including environmental ones. I am glad that we can help,” McLeod said, adding that the UK and Serbia are working together to strengthen trade and economic ties and deepen all others types of cooperation, Dnevnik reports.
