Deputy Mayor Goran Vesic signed a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation between Belgrade and Brussels today in the Old Palace.
The goal is for the two cities to achieve twinning relations, Vesic pointed out.
– This is the first step, which will be concretized by the Charter of Twinning. The agreement after our visit to Brussels was not realized so quickly due to the coronary virus pandemic – the deputy mayor explained.
As he specified, the agreement is that the signed memorandum will be sent to Brussels, so that the two cities can start cooperating.
– Brussels has had Belgrade Street for decades. Recently, the Assembly of the City of Belgrade named a street in the capital after Brussels. In that way, we showed respect – Vesic pointed out.
He added that the agreement with Brussels envisages cooperation in the field of culture, public administration, education, as well as in other areas that the two cities consider important.
– I expect that on behalf of the Brussels region, the signatory of this agreement, Pascal Smet, will come to Belgrade, when we will have the opportunity to visit Brussels Street and specifically discuss cooperation between the two cities – announced Vesic.
Belgrade is an open city, the deputy mayor added.
– We want cooperation with cities in Europe and the world that want to exchange experiences. Considering that Belgrade was created on the basis of openness and the influence of different cultures, we believe that we can make each other better through cooperation – Vesic concluded, Beoinfo reports.
