The Minister of Mining and Energy of Serbia, Zorana Mihajlovic, said today that the new laws in the energy sector will enable the citizens to be able to produce electricity on their own and thus have lower bills.
Speaking as a guest on TV Prva, she said that citizens will be able to receive subsidies from the state, and partly finance the replacement of carpentry in houses and apartments themselves.
According to her, Serbia throws 40 percent more electricity than its neighbors from the region, which means that the bills for electricity and heating are higher.
“With the new law on energy efficiency, we are creating an administration through which we will enable citizens to receive money in various amounts for the replacement of windows and doors, 50 percent will go from the administration, the state and the city, and 50 percent will be provided by themselves,” said Mihajlovic.
She added that the procedure will be the simplest possible, because the goal is for citizens not to waste time at the counters collecting documents.
Mihajlovic said that for the first time, Serbia received a law on renewable energy sources, which will, among other things, enable anyone who consumes electricity to be a producer.
“We want to make it possible to install solar panels on every roof of a house and apartment building. If you live in a building, you will need a decision from the housing community or part of the community and a framework project for solar panels that are then connected to existing installations in the apartment and house and for as much electricity as is produced, your bills will be lower,” said Mihajlovic.
She pointed out that when the consumer is not at home, that energy is still produced, it goes to the distribution network and is stored for the next month.
Yesterday, the Government of Serbia adopted the proposals of four laws – the Law on Mining and Geological Research, the Law on Energy, the Law on Energy Efficiency and Rational Use of Energy and the Law on Renewable Energy Sources, Beta reports.
