The latest model of FIAT company „Fiat Automobili Srbija“ of  Kragujevac, central Serbia, „Fiat 500L“, will be officially premiered at the International Car Salon in Geneva, on March 6. Preparations for the serial production of the  new car model are under way in the Kragujevac factory and the test production of parts for the new model should begin on March 15. According to experts that have already seen it, the new model,  „Fiat 500L“, is a true representative of the FIAT car brand and is intended for the admirers of the Italian style – a blend of functional design and a motor of state-of-the-art structure and efficiency.  The new model will be produced in the Kragujevac factory only, which is why the FIAT company in Serbia has gathered world famous car component manufacturers. It has chosen seven manufacturers so far, three of which are located on the factory site in Kragujevac, whereas the production plants of another four companies were built in nine months only, on a location of a former military barracks, assigned by the Kragujevac city authorities. As the commencement of the serial production in the car factory is due in mid-2012, everyone has to be ready. The test production of parts for the new car model should start on March 15 in all the seven factories. The state-of-the-art equipment will be installed and the factories will employ a thousand workers.

As announced from the „Fiat Automobili Srbija“ company, the serial production of the new model begins in May or in early June and its sale on the European market starts towards the end of this year. In 2013, the model is to be launched on the US market and the advertising campaign is already going on. A five seater is intended for the US market and a seven seater for the European one.

If we consider the fact that, despite the global economic crisis, the production in the Kragujevac factory has been running as planned so far, the same is expected to apply to the mass production of the new model. The process should stimulate the metal complex as 80% of the new FIAT car parts are to be produced in Serbia.Upon placement on international markets as of next year, Serbia is expected to realize an income of some 1.3 billion EUR from exports. The assessment of economic analysts that cooperation with FIAT has been the major project in the past few decades is thus fully justified. This cooperation will boost Serbian economy, employment and, above all, export growth. Serbia is finally obtain a high technology value product that can compete at the international market.
