Tadic underlined on this occasion that it is necessary that the state and its institutions devote full attention to providing jobs and attracting investments because they bring jobs and security to the citizens.

He said that the government is making efforts to keep every job and added that just as Trayal company in Krusevac was saved by becoming the property of Cooper Tire, the state will not give up on Zelezara ironworks in Smederevo either and will save 5,400 jobs in that city.

Ciric reiterated that attracting foreign investments is the best way for our country to cope with the global economic crisis.

The Minister noted that in direct competition with the countries of the region, Serbia emerged as a winner in attracting investments and told the workers of the factory in Krusevac that now they have a stable and secure job.

General Manager of Cooper Tire Roy Armes announced that this company will employ another several hundred workers over the next two years, who will manufacture 3 million tires per year.

This will put Cooper Tire among the top ten exporters in Serbia, Armes said, and thanked the Serbian government, local self-government and the embassies of the United States and Great Britain for having helped this company to choose a strategic location for future development.

US Ambassador to Serbia Mary Warlick pointed out that the fact that this American company bought Krusevac’s Trayal is another strong proof of security which Serbia offers to foreign investors.

Warlick said that she is convinced that this investment will secure a bright future to the company’s employees and their families, but also to citizens of Krusevac and Serbia.

US company Cooper Tire employs 460 workers in Krusevac and is the second largest employer in this city.
