Presence of Italian companies proof that Serbia is good place for investment

Minister of Economy and Regional Development Nebojsa Ciric said today that the candidate status for membership in the EU shows that in political, economic and security terms, Serbia is stabe, which is a good signal for investors.
At a presentation of a new association of the Italian economy in Serbia, Ciric said that our country is a good place for investors and that last year Serbia was a leader in the region in attracting foreign investment.

The Minister said that the Italian investments in Serbia amounted to more than €1 billion, adding that 400 Italian companies, which employ 20,000 workers, operate in Serbia.

He said that Italian investors have invested in nearly all branches of the Serbian economy, noting that there is great interest in investing in energy, tires, furniture, metal sector, agriculture and food industry.

Italian Ambassador to Serbia Armando Varricchio said that Serbia is a centre of nternationalisation of the Italian production system.

Varricchio said that improving economic environment in Serbia is crucial for European integration, adding that Italy has always provided support to Serbia’s EU path.
