The consortium consisting of the Society for Organization, Planning and Training, the International Center for Migration Policy Development and the Consultative Group for Policy and Management organized the training “Involvement of the Diaspora in the Social Development of Serbia” in order to strengthen partnerships with state institutions of different segments of Serbia’s development.
During the training, representatives of state institutions, ministries and local self-government units had the opportunity to learn how the most efficient and effective way to realize the involvement of the diaspora in the economic development of Serbia. Assistant Minister of Labor, Employment, Veterans and Social Affairs Sandra Grujicic pointed out that this type of training is extremely important for all state institutions because the latest data show that between 4.5 and five million of our people live outside Serbia.
– Migration is a great challenge of the modern age. In 2019, 272 million migrants were registered in the world, which represents 3.5 percent of the world’s population. Of this number, about 62 percent were economic migrants. When it comes to Serbia, it can be said that it is ready for the challenge of economic migration. The Government has adopted the Strategy on Economic Migration for the period 2021-2027. and the Action Plan for the period from 2021 to 2027. The general goal of the strategy is to slow down the departure of our citizens abroad and to establish a strong connection with the diaspora, but also to speed up the attraction of professional staff from abroad, especially from the diaspora – Sandra Grujicic pointed out, Danas reports.
