“Chicken meat from Serbia will start the EU approval procedure in two weeks in order to be on the European market. When it comes to pork, we will have another control in February, but we have finished our work,” Nedimovic said from Brussels.
Nedimovic notes that Serbia has finished its work from the aspect of food safety and that now is the time for the EU to open its borders for the import of Serbian goods.
The last time Serbia was present on the European food market with chicken and pork and processed products was in the time of the SFRY.
In the meantime, exports were reduced only to Northern Macedonia, BiH and Montenegro.
“Now we are opening new markets with which new opportunities are growing. Everything we produce in the fields, we can pull through the livestock and create additional value,” said Nedemovic.
In his message to farmers in Serbia, Minister Branislav Nedmovic emphasizes that the most important thing is to take care in the process of fattening due to the risk of African plague and other diseases.
“If we do that, we now have several different markets and, depending on the price, we sell goods better. That is the essence of trade in agriculture, that everything is open to you and that you can choose to whom you will sell it,” says Nedimovic.
During the talks in the General Directorate of the EC for Agriculture, the Minister of Agriculture of Serbia discussed the implementation of the IPARD 2 and IPARD 3 programs, which will be current in the next seven years.
With this program, the EU grants non-refundable development of agriculture, processing capacities and rural tourism in the countries in the process of accession, Politika reports.
