Serbia has interests to be a minority co-owner of the nuclear power plant in the Hungarian city of Paks, said the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic.
– We have already talked with the Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orban, about the construction of the nuclear power plant in Paks, and we are ready to be a minority owner, in order to ensure our energy security, especially because of our strengthening economic activity – said Vucic.
Vucic reiterated that the energy situation is such that it threatens a large number of countries in the region, their economic survival, and raises the question of whether they will be able to survive without a shortage of electricity.
In that sense, he considers responsible the statement of the President of the EC, Ursula von der Layen, that it is important to insist on gas and nuclear power plants.
That is why, he says, he will talk to Hungarian partners, because Serbia can and has an interest in being a minority co-owner of the nuclear power plant there.
– We are ready to give by 5, 10 or 15%, in order to increase our strength, because of the economy, but also the citizens – said Vucic, eKapija reports.
