The Ministry says in a statement that the meeting reiterated NIS’s stance that its strategic goal is to be transformed from a national company into a regional leader, through capitalisation to the amount of $10 billion by 2020.

Diversification of the company’s business activities will focus on the production of energy from natural gas, renewable energy sources and solid fuels.

NIS’s investment in Serbia by 2014 will exceed €2 billion and by 2020 even €3 billion.

Minister Bacevic was informed that NIS plans to participate in the tender for prospecting and production of oil shale in Aleksinac, the largest deposit of oil shale in Europe with over two billion tonnes of estimated reserves.
