Senic told the Beta news agency that the IMF mission should get acquainted with the situation in Serbian public finances, adding that the next step would be negotiations on a new arrangement.

We expect to establish negotiations with the IMF at the highest level and we believe that our strong commitment to seriously reduce the budget deficit in 2013 will pave the way for the new agreement, the State Secretary said.

He said that the IMF mission will meet with representatives of the Ministry of Finance and Economy, the National Bank of Serbia (NBS) and other members of the Serbian government to discuss the Law on the NBS, the budget and public finances.

I believe that this will be the start of a new cooperation between Serbia and the IMF, said Senic and recalled that the agreement signed with the former government is practically not in force as all projected parametres have been exceeded.
